Well… technology never ceases to surprise me. Honda today unveiled an airbag for a motorcycle. The first model to have it is the GoldWing.
Now… this fine and dandy, but considering there is no other passive security on a motorcycle (as in a crumple zone and passenger cabin) … what’s the point of this – to protect your head just before your entire body goes flying over the handlebars?
OK, I admit I haven’t read their white paper outlining the research that they have done to deem this as being worthwhile… but hey.
The pictures look interesting though. Honda has been working on this since the late 90s and actually published some research reports in SAE Automotive Engineering.
