With help from my trusted PHP & JSON guru Pritesh, I can confirm that Akismet doesn indeed work very well with WordPress 2.7 (Beta 2)…
Some people have asked me if the current beta of WordPress 2.7 is stable enough for production use… I would say that it depends on how much traffic you get, how many plugins you have (and how frequently they’re updated), and most importantly:
Will you be able to get used to the drastically changed (albeit improved) WordPress admin back-end. With the AJAX interface and new dynamic left-side skyscraper admin menu interface, WP 2.7 is a totally new beast.
There is no new default template (ahh, the classic Kubrick)…. but there are MANY changes under the hood… most notably; automatic WordPress updating – yes, you can now automatically keep your WP install updated via FTP or FTP over SSL. Obviously, I recommend the latter.
Thanks again to Pritesh for working on these validation processes… can’t wait for the RC and Gold / RTM release of WordPress 2.7… if you’re on the developer release, do keep an eye on – and contribute to – the WordPress TRAC bug issues.
