So, I use (and recommend) TwitterCounter as a social media management tool to clients and use it to keep an eye on my own tech site here.
An interesting experience over the last few days: I had noticed while reviewing my Twitter followers that there was a sudden increase in followers (10+ in one day) despite no earth shattering tweeting on my part. So the usual followers with a pretty girl picture and tweets all pointing to a specific site… almost exclusively.
The first spike and subsequent drop shows when I manually deleted and reported the followers for spam, and the second, about 1-2 days after shows when the accounts were obviously discovered by Twitter and terminated.
How do you manage bots or spammers who follow you to try and leverage your real people interested in what you have to share? Let me know in the comments below.
